Coin Collecting Merit badge
The Long Beach Coin Show is coming up, Sept. 18 - 20. Requirement 10b can be fulfilled by going to a coin show and this is a huge one. They have everything there from ancient coins to 2008. US and World coins, gold and silver like you have never seen before. They have displays of coins and artifacts recovered from shipwrecks. (Personally I think this is much better than visiting a website) Check out this link for a printable coupon, http://WWW.LONGBEACHEXPO.COM, it does cost to get in, $4 with coupon and parking is $10

Lightning Dragons Activity
The Lightning Dragons Patrol arranged for the Leatherwork Merit Badge to be worked on at the Tandy Leather Store in Fountain Valley. Rosie Shores manager of the store taught the class. The Scouts had the opportunity to handle various leathers and pelts including; deer, skunk, coyote, mink, rabbit (some dyed with patterns like zebra and leopard), rhino, fish (who would of thought of fish leather?), snake ( 8' python skin, and a cobra skin with the head still attached), cow and a few others. The Scouts were also able to work on one of the projects from their kits.
The following Scouts completed the Leatherwork Merit Badge;
Chris F. (T1616)
Matt F.
Aaron F. (T1616) partial - missed first session
Ryan L.
Brandon L.
Hayden V.
Alan W.
Look for the Lightning Dragons to arrange more Merit Badge workshops in the future.... Coin Collecting comes to mind.... maybe August or September.
